Lily Malm
Lily Malm is a Swedish-born, Los Angeles–based screenwriter and AFI Screenwriting Fellow. Raised in a family of musicians in southwestern Sweden, she first trained in dance before discovering her passion for storytelling while working as a projectionist at her local cinema. Her work spans political dramas, neo-noir thrillers, grounded sci-fi, and lesbian dramedies, exploring the nuances of the female and queer experience.
Lily’s feature Scent of Marigold (co-written with Laila Matuk) was selected as an American Zoetrope finalist by Francis Ford Coppola, placed in Final Draft’s Big Break (Top 5), and became a finalist at the Austin Film Festival, where it was later optioned. The project also earned Lily an O-1 Artist Visa for Extraordinary Ability. Her hourlong pilot Jean and the Twelve Apostles was a Pilotpalooza finalist and selected for a staged reading at WeMakeMovies.
